SESSION 6 – Health, Medical and Biosafety Management in CBRNe Emergencies
This session covers the medical, biosafety, and public health dimensions of CBRNe preparedness and response, emphasizing an integrated approach to save lives and protect healthcare infrastructures. Topics include triage and decontamination procedures, medical countermeasures (vaccines, antimicrobials, antidotes, and diagnostics), and management of contaminated casualties.
Contributions focusing on hospital resilience, surge capacity, and continuity of essential services during mass-casualty events are encouraged. Studies examining the health impacts of long-term exposure, the role of exposome assessment, and mental health care for responders and victims are also highly relevant.
The session welcomes work on biosafety and biosecurity measures in hospitals, laboratories, and emergency facilities, as well as on early warning systems and surveillance networks for biological, chemical, and radiological incidents. A special focus will be given to cross-sectoral collaboration among medical, public health, and civil protection entities.
