SESSION 5 – Training, Education, Psychology & Extended Reality for CBRNe Preparedness
Training and education are critical for ensuring that personnel perform effectively under the stress and uncertainty of CBRNe operations. This session examines innovative methods that combine cognitive learning, behavioural psychology, and immersive technologies to enhance performance, adaptability, and team coordination. Topics include Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VR/AR/MR) simulations, serious games, and competency-based education tailored to diverse professional profiles—from first responders to policy-level decision-makers.
We welcome research on human factors, stress inoculation, and crisis cognition, including how training environments can strengthen psychological readiness and communication within multi-agency teams. Submissions may also address learning analytics, performance evaluation, and the translation of training outcomes into operational effectiveness.
This session bridges pedagogy, psychology, and technology to foster a new generation of adaptive CBRNe professionals capable of maintaining composure, collaboration, and ethical judgment during complex emergencies.
